We are delighted to announce that Kyabje Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche has most graciously accepted to become the next head of the Nyingmapas.

Following the parinirvana of Kyabje Trulshig Rinpoche, the representatives of the six main lineages of Nyingmapa School had an audience with Kyabje Dodrubchen Rinpoche and requested Rinpoche to be the head of the Nyingmapas. Kyabje Dodrubchen Rinpoche declined the request citing health reasons.

Following this, supplications were made to Kyabje Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche. His Eminence Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche led a group of members of various Nyingma monasteries consisting of H.E. Kathog Gertse Rinpoche, H.E Khenchen Rinpoche who represented H.E. Khochhen Rinpoche who was unable to travel, Venerable Khenpo Jamyang who represented H.E. Dzogchen Rinpoche, Venerable Khenpo Tshewang Gyatso who represented the Palyul monastery and Venerable Khenpo Guru who represented the Namdrol Ling monastery. The delegation also included Venerable Khenpo Sonam Tenphel and Mr. Gyari Kalzang who are the representatives of the Nyingma School in the Tibetan Government in Exile.

After repeatedly supplicating to Kyabje Tsetrul Rinpoche, Rinpoche finally agreed saying with his usual great humility and humor, "My accepting this position is like a dog getting the title of a lion. I will only take on this responsibility if Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche and Khochhen Rinpoche will also assist me."

This news has been received most joyously by all of us at Mindrolling and we supplicate for the long life of Kyabje Tsetrul Rinpoche and the flourishing of Kyabje Rinpoche's activities throughout the ten directions.
